Description

This activity is part of a larger environmental education workshop package called Critical Hope; An Approach to Environmental Education which includes almost 30 group or classroom activities.

This stand-alone activity has students working cooperatively in pairs completing sentences begun by the teacher.  Joanna Macy describes this kind of exercise as adding authenticity to our work “by exaggerating and venting feelings of disconnection, even indifference, which are inevitable in our mass culture, we can achieve greater honesty and sense of wholeness for all that follows.”  Sentences such as:

“I am sick and tired of hearing about … “

“I don’t want to hear about all this, because it makes me feel … “
