Contrails and Global Climate Change
Description
What are contrails? We've all seen them, they're the condensation trails from jets made from burning jet fuel and the release of water vapor. In this module students will learn about contrails and explore the effects of increased global air travel (and thus, increased contrails) on the environment. After reading through the scenario and using the additional resources provided, students complete investigations to further their understanding and consolidate their knowledge. The list of investigations and their difficulty is listed below and can be found in the 'Contrails and Global Climate Change Module' link.
The NASA Global Climate Change Education/Earth Science Education Alliance (ESSEA) modules include situations, connections to standards, resources and sample investigations. Unless labeled K-4 the modules can be adapted for middle and high school students.
