Andrew Steer on Making Durban a Success
Description
The World Bank's Special Envoy on Climate Change, Andrew Steer, summarises what it will take to make Durban a success. He starts with moving forward on the Cancun Agreements, looking at the technology mechanism, progress on the Green Fund, making the Adaptation Committee operational, the small island developing states, reforming the CDM (to make it easier for Africa to join) and fully endorsing REDD. Beyond that, he refers to the need to look at agriculture. He also discusses integration across countries, citing as an aim a unified electricity grid for Africa, and finishes on the urgent need for creative thinking over finance.
