Our Solar Future, The Collab-project
Description
Teachers collaborating to "test" and adapt Our Solar Future.
Teachers Notes
The Our Solar Future Collaborative Project uses EcoSpark's new module, Our Solar Future (OSF). The OSF lessons are connected directly to the Ontario curriculum. The integrated nature of their design allows teachers to integrate language arts, mathematics, and visual arts with the science and technology electricity and electrical devices unit.
Through the rich performance tasks students can: 1. educate younger students about solar power; 2. design a solar village; or 3. create a solar business.
OSF contains three rich performance tasks based on solar electricity and ten "training activities" to prepare students to excel at the performance tasks.
The training activities include lessons on: circuitry; electricity generation; electricity consumption; how solar PV works; how to design a solar PV system; how much electricity solar PV systems can produce; and electricity budgeting, among others. All activities within the resource come with teacher notes. OSF was created in collaboration with the Toronto District School Board but is available for use across the province.
